For anyone who loves spending time outdoors, few places can match the beauty and grandeur of North Lake Tahoe, where each season comes with its own collection of wonderful outdoor activities. Wondering which neighborhood might be right for you? Our real estate agents are here to help, with your guide to the neighborhoods of North Lake Tahoe.
Carnelian Bay
Named for the beautiful yellow and red stones that you'll find dotting the shoreline, Carnelian Bay is a small, quiet community surrounded by natural beauty. It's a great place to go fishing for the largest Mackinaw trout, and also has beaches perfect for spending time by the water. The sunsets here, like in many places around North Lake Tahoe, are truly gorgeous.
Crystal Bay
Do you love all of the dining, entertainment, and gaming options of Nevada's casinos? Located right on the CA/NV border, Crystal Bay is home to four exciting casinos, as well as tons of dining, lodging, and entertainment destinations.
Dollar Point
Found just a short drive east from Tahoe City (which we'll cover shortly), Dollar Point features a diverse selection of smaller and mid-sized single family homes, including many with gorgeous lake views. This community is a great example of the outdoor lifestyle of Lake Tahoe, especially for anyone who loves spending time on the water.
Kings Beach
A fun, quirky beach town with stunning scenery and tons to do outdoors all year long, Kings Beach is located around the corner from Crystal Bay. The beaches here are a main attraction of course, and the delightful collection of local small businesses adds so much to life around the community.
Northstar
Love spending time in the snow? Northstar is a community where everyone looks forward to spending time on the slopes, and there's plenty to see around town as well. The shopping is particularly good here, especially when you're looking to stock up on skiing or snowboarding gear.
Squaw
One of the top ski resort destinations in the country, Squaw (also known as Palisades) once played host to the Winter Olympics. Today, it's still a wonderful ski town in the winter, as well as a hub of outdoor and wellness activities in the summer.
Tahoe Vista
If you love finding special, hidden-away places in nature, Tahoe Vista has so much to discover. There are some lovely beaches tucked away, and recreation areas that make it easy to spend time on the water. The trails here offer year-round excitement, from hiking in the summer to skiing in the winter.
Tahoe City
With a walkable downtown that offers outstanding shopping and four-star dining, Tahoe City offers everything you need to relax and unwind. But it's also a great place to stay active. With around 300 days of sunshine every year and an annual snow total that often tops 15 feet, you get a little bit of everything when you're enjoying the outdoors around Tahoe City at different times of year.
