    Built on the banks of Lake Tahoe, Vikingsholm Castle is a historic estate with Scandinavian-inspired design which was completed in 1929. Its stunning architecture, scenic setting, and storied history have made it a popular place to visit for many decades. Tours of the interior are available in the summer, and you can tour the grounds during any time of year.

  • Watson Cabin Museum – 560 N. Lake Blvd., Tahoe City, CA 96145
    A small museum that shows what life was like for some of Lake Tahoe's early residents, the Watson Cabin Museum is located within the oldest standing log structure in the region. The museum is open every Tuesday – Sunday from June through October.

  • Old Truckee Jail Museum – 10142 Jibboom St., Truckee, CA 96161
    The original Truckee Jail, built in 1875, is now the site of the Old Truckee Jail Museum, which you can visit to learn all about a pioneering time in local history. The Museum is open on summer weekends and on select Thursdays year-round, with private tours always available by appointment.
