Fall is a great time to get out and explore all that Lake Tahoe has to offer, especially if you love bringing your furry friend along for the fun. There are a variety of dog-friendly attractions in Lake Tahoe for you to visit during the fall, including some great dog-friendly beaches that are ideal for a fall stroll in the sand and a few games of fetch. Our real estate agents have more details on the best Lake Tahoe beaches that both you and your dog will love.
Sand Harbor
Does your dog love to join you for adventures on the water? The beach at Sand Harbor is one of the most beautiful in all of Lake Tahoe, with crystal-clear water, fascinating rock formations, clean, sandy beaches, and a variety of different outdoor activities available. Bring your dog along for a boat ride with two boat launches located nearby or for a paddling trip with your canoe or kayak. There are even shaded picnic tables, complete with barbecue pits. Just keep in mind that dogs are welcome on this beach between October 15 and April 15 but not during the peak of the spring/summer seasons.
Carnelian West Beach
A smaller beach that's pet-friendly all year as long as your pup is kept on a leash, Carnelian West Beach is a great choice when you're in the mood for a quick walk in the sand with beautiful views all around. The popular Gar Woods Restaurant is located adjacent to this beach, providing the perfect place to recharge once your pup is finished frolicking along the shoreline.
Hidden Beach
Looking for a beach where your dog can play off-leash? Hidden Beach lives up to its name by being a bit more difficult to get to than other beaches on our list, but it's an excellent option when you and your pup are craving a good hike. You can access the beach via the paved Tahoe East Shore Trail, and it's about a 10-minute walk to the beach from the parking area. This beach is located within Lake Tahoe, Nevada State Park, so there are tons more outdoor activities to enjoy in the area in addition to spending time on the beach.
Patton Landing Beach
The most popular place around Lake Tahoe for stand-up paddleboarding, Patton Landing Beach is a bit different from the other beaches on our list. The surface is very pebbly rather than sandy, but it's still quite comfortable for pets to walk on. Dogs are welcome on the eastern portion of the beach, as long as they're kept on a leash. There's also a small cafe by this beach overlooking the lake, with a pet-friendly outdoor deck where you can enjoy a meal after your adventures.
Kings Beach Picnic Area
Craving an outdoor meal with your favorite pup at your side? Kings Beach Picnic Area is a small, secluded beach in the larger Kings Beach State Recreation Area, and it's an ideal spot for an autumn picnic. Find your spot at one of the many shaded picnic tables, then relax with a meal and a healthy helping of gorgeous views. While this beach is perfect for a picnic, be aware that it's quite rocky so it's not the ideal place for a long walk or run with your dog.
