There are so many great events to look forward to this time of year, whether you're in the mood for outdoor fun, live music, exciting sports, or something that's a little bit different from the norm. The unofficial start of summer takes place a few weeks early in Reno, thanks to the very popular Reno River Festival. This festival is an event that has grown from humble beginnings to host more than 40,000 visitors every year, with a great mix of outdoor sports, live music, and a wide range of interactive experiences. You can even take a professionally guided raft tour with the Great Reno River Rally. It all takes place at Idlewild Park from May 30 – June 1, 2025.
BBQ, Brews and Blues Festival – Virginia St., Reno, NV 89509
With the BBQ, Brews and Blues Festival, it's all in the name, and that's a good thing. This event features two days of live music, outstanding barbecue, and craft beer from the best microbreweries around the Reno area. Sample beers from more than 50 microbreweries, grab all of your summer favorites from Gregg's BBQ Pit, see the winner of the Beer Judging Competition, and watch teams compete in the Beer Olympics. This event takes place June 13-14, 2025, and guests must be age 21+ to attend.
Reno Rodeo – 1350 N. Wls Ave., Reno, NV 89512
The Reno Rodeo is known as the richest rodeo in the West, and it brings 10 days of thrilling competition to the Reno-Tahoe Livestock Events Center. In addition to the rodeo action, there are tons of other fun activities associated with this event, like the Miss Reno Rodeo Pageant, Kick-Off Concert, Carnival, Cattle Drive, and Wild Pony Races. This year's Reno Rodeo takes place June 19 – 28, 2025, with a wide range of events and activities available each day.
Artown – 2 S. Arlington Ave., Reno, NV 89501
As the calendar flips to July, the focus turns to Artown, Reno's biggest art festival of the year. This event features more than 500 art-related activities for all ages, from shopping to classes, performances, and hands-on, kid-friendly activities. Opening night for the event is at Wingfield Park at the address above, but there are activities related to Artown all around Reno during the event. It all takes place from July 1 – 31, 2025, and many of the events associated with Artown are free to attend.
Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival – 2005 NV-28, New Washoe City, NV 89704
Who could say no to an evening of Shakespeare, with delicious food on your plate and a Lake Tahoe sunset as your backdrop? This year's Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival features Shakespeare's classic Twelfth Night (July 26 – August 23, 2025) and the award-winning Peter Pan prequel Peter and the Starcatcher (July 5 – August 26). Both plays can be seen on the Warren Edward Trepp Stage at scenic Lake Tahoe State Park.
